ELS partners with Mater Education to help fast-track healthcare careers
ELS continues its partnership with Mater Education, giving Queensland high school students hands-on experience with paramedics, ambulance equipment and frontline healthcare careers.

Brisbane, Queensland - Emergency Logistics Solutions (ELS) is excited to announce that it is continuing its partnership with Mater Education to deliver hands-on healthcare and emergency response training to high school students across Queensland.
This program integrates into Mater Education’s High School Health Adventure program; the collaboration offers students in Years 10 to 12 direct immersion into paramedicine, clinical care, and critical emergency services during school holiday periods.
This program exposes students to frontline medical careers, taking them out of the classroom and into real-world healthcare environments, while also giving them the opportunity to engage with ELS’s highly credentialed team of first responders.
According to Jeremy Collins, Managing Director of ELS, this program highlights the strong commitment the organisation has to working alongside leading healthcare organisations like Mater Education - part of Mater Health, which operates the largest not-for-profit network of public and private hospitals and healthcare services in Queensland - to foster the professional development of the next generation of healthcare professionals.
"Exposing high school students to true-to-life paramedic and emergency scenarios changes the way they view healthcare careers," said Mr Collins.
"By giving them early, direct experience with clinical tools and real-world emergency response tactics, we hope to inspire and equip the next generation of frontline responders."
To deliver the courses, ELS provides one of its more experienced paramedics, partnered with a current student paramedic undergoing training, so participants can ask questions of someone currently studying, along with an operator who can share their career experiences and lessons.
They conduct this training using one of the ELS fully stocked and equipped emergency ambulance vehicles, providing students the opportunity to engage with the physical accompaniments required to deliver emergency care, including medical kits and oxygen systems, allowing them to ‘touch’ and ‘feel’ the ‘tools’ required to provide patients the support they might require.
Other course components delivered by other providers or Mater itself will see participants engage with real-life scenarios, including opportunities to step into clinical scrubs and practise essential lifesaving techniques such as CPR, wound dressing, basic suturing, and emergency triage.
Utilising advanced medical simulation manikins and state-of-the-art clinical facilities, students gain practical experience in high-pressure medical scenarios under the guidance of active industry professionals.
Mater Education is Queensland’s only accredited, independent, hospital-based Registered Training Organisation (RTO).
Operating as the dedicated education and workforce development arm of Mater Health, it delivers vocational training, clinical immersion, and professional development directly within real hospital environments across Queensland.
Designed to bridge the gap between secondary education and frontline medical careers, the program steps students out of the classroom and into real-world healthcare environments.
The program is structured into two distinct learning streams to accommodate different areas of student interest:
Two-day comprehensive immersion: An intensive deep dive into healthcare and emergency response. Students practice life support protocols, explore simulated surgical and childbirth procedures, and participate in interactive Q&A panels with practising clinical specialists.
One-day specialty workshops: Targeted, single-day experiences focusing on specific disciplines, including emergency nursing, maternity care, specialised medicine, and allied health pathways.
Applications for upcoming intakes are now open for senior high school students across Queensland.
